This engine was orignially designed to serve as a hand carried fire
pump engine as fear of invasion heightened during the Korean Conflict
in 1950. The 1216 cc block is Brancuzzi cast aluminum with a
technologically advanced aluminum cylinder head. The total engine
weight is only 215 Lbs.
With the Elite's road weight of 1,250 Lbs and a Stage II configuration
(dual S.U. carburettors) providing 83 BHP at 6300 RPM, the performance
resulting from this unusual power to weight ratio is considerable and
directly responsible for it's racing prowess. Gas mileage for this late
fifties vehicle is consistantly 60+ miles per gallon.
